SCASS Organizes a Special Seminar for FISICPAC 2018
The Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences organized a special seminar for the attendees of the "1st Sharjah International Conference on Particle Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology (FISICPAC) 2018." Dr. Ilias Fernini, the Deputy General Director for the Research Laboratories and Observatory, welcomed the guests and presented a summary of all the research done at the Center. He emphasized the special nature of the center as having several research laboratories and centers, which are: (1) the Meteorite Center, (2) the Radio Astronomy Laboratory, (3) the Space Weather and Ionospheric Laboratory, (4) the Astronomical Observatory, (5) the CubeSat Laboratory, and a (6) GIS/RS Center. SCASS is planning to open more laboratories in the near future like the "High Energy Astrophysics/Physics Laboratory", the "Planetary Atmospheric Laboratory", and the "Artificial Laboratory." Currently, SCASS has three faculty members and six permanent research assistants working at the different laboratories. The Center also has more than 100 students from the University of Sharjah actively participating in all of the main research areas of the center.
