SAASST Organizes 5th Week of a CubeSat Course

During the period Sep. 08-12, 2019, the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology, finished the fifth week of a series of a six-week CubeSat course organized in collaboration with the Istanbul Technical University, one of the leading European universities in space technologies. More than 20 students from the University of Sharjah, and four IASTE students attended this course. The topic was the SHARJAH-SAT-1 3U CubeSat that is planned to be launched by the end of 2020. The CubeSat will carry two payloads, an X-ray detector, and a high-resolution camera. The students were exposed to the CubeSat technology and were asked to design the whole Sharjah-Sat-1 CubeSat in terms of the structure, OBC, EPS, Camera, COM, launch, risk analysis, and launch. The sixth week of the CubeSat course is programmed in November 2019 and will be dedicated to building a ground station (VHF/UHF/S) from scratch.
